Sexual Assault: Dani Alves faces trial in February

Alves had earlier denied any sexual encounter with the woman but later confessed to consensual sex.

The trial for alleged sexual assault involving former Brazil and Barcelona defender Dani Alves in Spain is scheduled for February 5-7, 2024.

Alves has been prison without bail since his arrest in January, facing allegations of assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub last year.

Initially, he denied any sexual encounter with her but later confessed to consensual sex.

A Spanish prosecutor is pursuing a nine-year prison term for Alves. Additionally, the prosecutor seeks a restraining order post-sentence and demands Alves to pay 150,000 euros in damages to the woman.

With 126 caps for Brazil, Alves’ last appearance was at the Qatar World Cup in 2022. His contract with Mexican club UNAM was terminated following his arrest.
