Iwobi has been one of the best performers in the premier league since his return from AFCON, and he has once again showed his class with new record.
The Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has set a new Premier League record just last night after scoring a late consolatory goal for Fulham in their 2-1 loss away to Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.
Iwobi halved Wolve deficit deep into stoppage time with a clever improvised finish, but there was barely time for the game to restart as Wolves held on after Rayan Ait-Nouri scored early in the second half. He however converted from Toti Gomes’ pull back after Fulham failed to deal adequately with a free-kick from deep.
Nelson Semedo’s deflected shot, off Tom Cairney, made it 2-0 for Wolves before Iwobi struck late in the match.
According to Opta his goal became the latest goal scored in the English premier league.
The strike took Iwobi’s tally to five this season, marking his highest season’s total in his career thus far.

His previous best in the EPL was during the 2018/19 season, where he scored three goals in 35 league appearances.
That season also stands as his most prolific, netting a total of six goals and providing nine assists across 51 appearances in all competitions.
He has already remarkably equaled his goal-scoring record this season, bagging six goals in just 25 games across all competitions.
Following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in February, the Nigerian international has been in fine form and has continued to be instrumental in Marco Silva’s side.
He has been able to find the back of the net twice in his last four games, including a crucial win against Manchester United in late February.
