The Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commenced the construction of vital rural roads in the state.
In a move to foster agricultural growth and rural connectivity within Ondo state, the governor has reiterated his commitment to grassroots development.
The transformative initiative kicked off with the groundbreaking ceremony for the 15.5km Oda Cocoa Board – Camp 2 – Langbodo Road in Oda town, located in the Akure South local government area, on Friday.
Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed the importance of grassroots development in ensuring food security and socio-economic progress.
The first phase of the project encompasses critical routes spanning the state’s three senatorial districts: Oda – Cocoa Board – Langbodo in Akure South LG (Central), Ode – Omi – Ebute Iyara in Irele LGA (South), and Ifira Akoko – Afo in Akoko South East LG (North).
Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of closely watching contractors to build good roads on time, showing his dedication to rural projects.

Mr. Femi Adetanmi, the State Project Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), highlighted that the project receives funding from the World Bank, the French Development Agency, and contributions from the Ondo State Government.
Adetanmi emphasized the transformative impact of these roads, which will facilitate seamless transportation of agricultural produce from rural to urban centres.
The Ondo RAAMP project encompasses the digitalization and construction of approximately 700km of roads across all 18 Local Government Areas, alongside the design of nine Agro-Logistics Centers (ALCs) aimed at improving agricultural value chains.
Mr Adetanmi encouraged farmers to use improved access to markets and stressed the importance of farming in reducing food shortages made worse by poor rural infrastructure.
Mr. Wole Akinkuotu, Administrative Secretary of the Directorate of Rural & Community Development and Chairman of the State Project Monitoring Committee of RAAMP, echoed the administration’s proactive approach to rural accessibility, highlighting Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to rural development.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included Deputy Governor Chief Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the State Government Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, Chief of Staff to Governor Aiyedatiwa Prince Segun Omojuwa, and traditional rulers.
