Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Wednesday pledged to address the issue of a shortage of classroom teachers in public primary and secondary schools as part of reforms in the education sector in the state
.
Governor Aiyedatiwa.reinstate Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) technical training, recognising the significance of technical education.
In a statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa disclosed this while receiving in office delegation from the National Union of Teachers (NUT), Ondo State chapter.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also pledged to take a critical look at the various issues raised by the teachers.
He promised to reintroduce running grants to schools, enhancing school infrastructure, appointment of Headmasters General for primary schools, extension of age and service years for teachers, and provision of instructional materials.
The Chairman of the NUT in Ondo State, who has served two times as the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in the State, Comrade Victor Oladele Amoko, led the delegation.

Reacting to the delegation request, the governor assured the union of his administration’s dedication to addressing the identified challenges in the education sector.
“We will take decisive steps to address the acute shortage of teachers in our primary schools, ensuring the stability and quality of education,” promised the governor, highlighting the urgency of the matter, ” the governor affirmed.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the leaders of the NUT for their partnership and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education as a catalyst for development in Ondo State.
