As a remarkable support for women amid the International Women’s Day celebration, the Lagos State Governor affirms that women are leading the way, breaking barriers, and shaping a more inclusive future across Lagos State.
In his statement disclosed on his X handle on Friday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that from the bustling markets of Lagos Island to the innovative hubs across Yaba, women with resilience and wisdom have proven to be the backbone of a vibrant city.
“Today, on International Women’s Day, I stand in awe and celebration of the remarkable women of Lagos. Your resilience, wisdom, and contributions are the backbone of our vibrant city.
“From the bustling markets of Lagos Island to the innovative hubs across Yaba, women are leading the way, breaking barriers, and shaping a more inclusive future for us all,” he quipped.
According to the governor, he described his administration as “committed to fostering an environment where every woman and girl can achieve her full potential, free from bias and barriers,” where their “policies and initiatives are designed to empower women in all spheres of life, recognising that progress for women is progress for all of Lagos.”
He further assured Lagosians that his tenure is more committed to embracing women as they mark women’s achievements during the International Women’s Day Celebration.
“Let’s use this day to reaffirm our commitment to gender equality, to celebrate the achievements of women, and to inspire positive change,” he said.

Lastly, the governor also pointed out, charging all stakeholders: “Together, we can and will build a Lagos that cherishes and uplifts every woman.
“However, he appreciates the entire Lagos women for showing hard work and proving to be leaders and shining lights.
“To the incredible women of Lagos, thank you for your perseverance, leadership, and dedication. You are not just the heart of Lagos; you are its shining light.
