Today, as former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo celebrates his 87th birthday, he unveils a profound contribution to the world of leadership with the launch of his new book, titled: “The Art of Leading: Unconventional Wisdom from Biblical.”
The public presentation took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, marking a significant milestone in Chief Obasanjo’s illustrious career as both a military General and statesman.
At the launch and dinner event attended by dignitaries from various sectors, Chief Obasanjo emphasized the paramount importance of leadership, particularly in the African context. He highlighted that without effective leadership, Africa cannot progress swiftly, nor reach its full potential.
The book, consisting of 13 chapters, offers insights into how Christians can effectively navigate the realm of politics while upholding values and principles grounded in faith.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah, who reviewed the book, emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to align their actions with divine grace and infuse politics with values that reflect their faith.
Reflecting on the current social conditions in Nigeria, Bishop Kukah underscored the importance of servant leadership as advocated in the book, emphasizing the need for leaders to prioritize service to the people above all else.
The event also featured remarks from distinguished guests, including the former president of Ghana, John Mahama, who emphasized the importance of wisdom in leadership.
