In a bid to increase the availability of food items, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sealed a deal with the Niger State Government on Wednesday in Lagos State.
According to the statement disclosed on the X handle of the Chief Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, the signing of the deal was done on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Produce-For-Lagos initiative.
Adding that the Produce-For-Lagos initiative is a long-term strategic partnership between both states, with Niger State being the major supply of food items such as paddy, tubers, legumes, and grains, among other food items, and Lagos State will be the buyer.
The statement reiterated that “farmers in Niger State will have a ready market for their produce, while Lagos State citizens can be assured of the availability and price stability of food items.“

“In the long term, this initiative will create a ready supply of farm produce directly to the ongoing massive Lagos Food logistics in Ketu Ereyun, Epe.”
However, the signing of the MoU was witnessed by the governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among other dignitaries.
