Assuring the commission’s readiness to combat economic saboteurs in Rivers State, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Assistant Commandant General, Ayinla Olowo said the agency was ready to collaborate with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Olowo, Zonal Commander of NSCDC Zone L, Port Harcourt, led a delegation to the EFCC Zonal Command in Port Harcourt on Thursday, opined this during a courtesy visit.
This meeting yielded fruit as both parties reached an agreement to halt the continuity of illegal operations practiced within the state by oil theft and illegitimate miners.
Acknowledging the effort of EFFC, the NSCDC boss emphasized the importance of EFFC to a nation seeking to improve and also underscored their aim of visitation.
He said, “No agency that wants to succeed in this country will not want to identify with an organization like the EFCC. That is why I have come here. I want the robust synergy that has existed between us to be sustained for the betterment of this country because we all have to make sure that this country is delivered from all infractions so that we will make progress.”

Responding to Olowo, the Acting Zonal Director of EFCC, Port Harcourt Command, ACE 1, Adebayo Adeniyi appreciated the NSCDC for reaching out to the commission for the betterment of the nation in curbing crime and he also pledges that the commission was ready to work with them as they have had over the years.
Adeniyi noted, “The most important thing about law enforcement is synergy. Working together is the beauty of the job. Instead of competing, we are supposed to be working together. With that, I believe we will be achieving a lot of things together. “
He further explained “You talked about illegal mining, we do a lot of investigations that relate to it and money laundering is also one of the crimes we investigate. Once you make an arrest and the matter is related to what we prosecute, you can hand it over to us for prosecution.”
