The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has with deep regret expressed condolences on the passing of the retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ibrahim Lamorde.
The IGP stated that DIG Lamorde, a respected officer and leader, passed away after a lifetime of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force.
Giving a brief overview of the DIG’s life and career, he said: “Born on December 20, 1962, in Mubi, Adamawa State, DIG Lamorde dedicated his life to public service and police, joining the Nigeria Police Force in 1986. Throughout his illustrious career, DIG Lamorde rose through the ranks, serving with staunch professionalism.
“His integrity and dedication were evident in every role he undertook, culminating in his appointment as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2011.”
However, he was appointed Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2011, where he earned a reputation for his commitment to combating corruption.
Additionally, the EFCC successfully prosecuted numerous high-profile cases and recovered substantial looted funds.

Furthermore, After concluding his tenure at the EFCC in 2015, DIG Lamorde continued his exemplary service within the NPF.
He retired in 2021 as the pioneer Deputy Inspector General for the Force Intelligence Department (FID), having set high standards for professional policing and justice.
The NPF therefore mourns the loss of DIG Ibrahim Lamorde, whose legacy as a dedicated officer and anti-corruption advocate, will inspire future generations.
The IGP, along with officers and men of the Force, extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
