The Rivers State Police Command said the commission is investigating the matter of an alleged woman who attempted to sell her five-year-old son in Port Harcourt.
According to the Punch report, the incident that occurred on Saturday described a woman identified as Onyinye who took her five-year-old son to a popular market in Bishop Okoye Street located at Mile 3 locale in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that the drama erupted when some traders approached the woman to find out her true intentions, which she attributed to hardship.
The sceptical traders who doubted the woman’s claim about the child’s parentage proceeded to bundle her and escort her to the police station to file a report, ultimately resulting in her arrest.
A trader, whose identity was not disclosed, spoke on the issue, saying, “The way I see the woman, I don’t think she is normal because of how she was acting.”
When reached for comment on Monday, Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident, stating that the matter is currently under investigation.

“The woman was brought to the station by some people who alleged she came to the market to sell her child,
“We are investigating the matter to ascertain the veracity of the eyewitnesses’ claims. Meanwhile, the woman is still with the police,” Iringe-Koko commented.
