Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organization, applauded the Nigerian and South African national football teams for their performance in Wednesday’s AFCON match held in Cote D’Ivoire.
Dr Iweala took to Twitter to express her joy and congratulations following the recent success of the Super Eagles making it to the finals after winning their South African counterparts, Bafana Bafana.

According to her statement on Twitter, Dr Iweala exclaimed, “We got it done!! Our very own @NGSuperEagles did it. Congratulations!! You have put a smile on all our faces.”
The Director General’s words reflect the pride and happiness still felt by Nigerians over the Super Eagles’ victory on Wednesday.
As a gesture of the African spirit of unity, she extended her congratulations to the South African team, Bafana Bafana, for their valiant performance in the battle for the finals last night.
Dr Iweala emphasized the spirit of sportsmanship between Nigeria and South Africa urging both teams to “march forward“.
