The president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, celebrates Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, at the National Assembly on his 60th birthday.
On Monday, Tinubu expressed his excitement, beckoning on the leadership qualities that have distinguished the senator, while also making references to Mr. Abiru’s service as a Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State.
According to the statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the president praised the former commissioner of finance for “enabling the floating of an N80 billion bond, earning the state the EMEA Finance’s Best Local Currency Bond Award for 2012.”

The Senator was the Managing Director of Skye Bank and the Chief Executive of Polaris Bank.
Furthermore, he was said to be the chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking of the 10th senate on August 8, 2023.
In his remark, Mr. President hailed the senator for his “high sense of responsibility, character, and dedication to service, which culminated in his emergence as the Chairman, Southern Senators’ Forum.”
However, Tinubu reiterated on Abiru’s 60th birthday that he wished him “many more years of good health and strength in his service to Lagos State and the nation.“
