On Friday, the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has celebrated Chibueze Uzodinma, the winner of a dancing competition organised by Big Break Moment Reality Show.
In a bid to express his appreciation of Mr Uzodinma’s effort in the victory, Governor Fubara also awarded him a scholarship.
After a brief ceremony, Fubara announced a scholarship offer, and along with it, he handed over the official prize of a brand-new Changan CS35 Plus luxury car as onward presentation to the winner at Government House in Port Harcourt.
In a post shared on the Secretary to the Rivers State Government Facebook page, it was stated that the SSA on Media to the Governor of Rivers State, Boniface Onyedi, described the Big Break Moment as a talent search platform with the commitment to recognising the creativity and talents of Nigerian youths.
The governor emphasised that development extends beyond traditional infrastructure projects like roads and housing; he underscored the importance of self-discovery and nurturing innate talents as equally essential components of progress.
He stressed the importance of young people dedicating time to introspection and pursuing endeavours that enable them to realise their personal aspirations, ultimately achieving success deserving of recognition and celebration.
“I accepted to do this for one reason. It is to send a message to our youths that when you are ready to excel, when you are ready to unleash yourself to the world positively, we will always stand by you.
“I also feel happy that the winner of this show is from my alma mater. I want to say to everyone who is watching that you can still be in school and still become that thing you want to be outside of your academics, positively.
“As a government, we are going to support you and see you through schooling. So, we are not going to give you money. I will award a scholarship to you at any level that you know you can get to,” the governor said.
Governor Fubara urged youths to follow the exemplary lifestyle of Chibueze Uzodinma, who utilises his dancing talent to shun criminality and become a star deserving of celebration.
In his statement, the Commissioner for Youth Development in Rivers State, Mr. Chisom Gbali, expressed his pleasure at a Rivers native winning the top prize in the reality show.
Furthermore, he stated that the Uzodinma victory exemplifies the resourcefulness and exceptionalism of Rivers youths in every field they pursue, a testament to the support provided by Governor Fubara’s administration.
