The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed over 1,665 fake A’Level results during the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) application process.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed the discovery of 1,665 fake A’ Level results during the 2023 Direct Entry (DE) registration.
However, the revelation came during a meeting with the National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) in his office in Bwari, Abuja.
“Out of these figures, 397 were from colleges of education, 453 were university diplomas, and the rest were other A’ Levels certificates,” Oloyede said.
Oloyede emphasized the necessity of upholding the integrity of certificates and expressed concern over the corruption in the A-level result verification process.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that certificates used for admission maintain credibility.
Oloyede highlighted the prevalence of fraudulent practices in the past, where the Board relied solely on awarding institutions for screening and due diligence.
In the weekly bulletin, JAMB Spokesperson Fabian Benjamin revealed that out of 148 Direct Entry applications to Bayero University, Kano (BUK), only six certificates forwarded to Oloyede for processing were authentic.
In response to the alarming discovery, stakeholders met to devise ways to combat the issue.
“It was the discovery of this monumental fraud that prompted the meeting of critical stakeholders, who met to chart ways of combating the menace,” Oloyede said.

The registrar stated that the stakeholders proposed A’ Level Verification Taskforce:
“Part of the measures suggested was the constitution of an A’ level result verification task force as well as the creation of a common platform for the verification of A level results and certificates,
“The platform was reliable and user-friendly, as it only took five minutes to verify any given certificate.”
The Registrar however announced the implementation of a “No verification, No admission” policy to uphold the integrity of the admission process.
He also expressed concerns about 15 institutions’ inadequate compliance with verification requests, affecting over 20 unverified candidates.
To address this, Oloyede declared that candidates applying with certificates from these institutions would undergo pre-verification before completing their DE registration process.
Additionally, JAMB extended the registration deadline for 2024 DE Applicants by two weeks, setting the new closing date to April 25.
