Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has on Saturday paid a visit to the victims and the people of Ita-Ogbolu in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State over the heavy downpour that resulted in the loss of life and properties in the area.
Governor Aiyedatiwa visited and extended his sincere sympathy to the Kabiyesi and the people of Ita-Ogbolu, especially the victims of the disaster. The news of the visit came during the week via a post on Facebook.
While speaking to the people, Aiyedatiwa promised that the government will come to their aid. He also prayed for the family of the deceased, wishing them the fortitude to bear their loss.
It was confirmed that the dreadful incident was followed by the first rain of the year, which claimed one life and destroyed about 200 buildings in the town.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who inspected the damages, stated at the palace of the Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu that he was saddened by the loss of life and the huge number of properties destroyed, while assuring that the government has arrangements for such disaster and will ensure that the needful is being done with immediate effect.

The Governor went on to say that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) will be on ground to compile and assess the affected houses and ensure help gets to the victims on time.
Governor Aiyedatiwa later advised that residents should cultivate the habit of planting trees around their residential buildings so that it would serve as a windbreaker to ensure proper safety of lives and properties.
