The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has signed the Electricity Regulatory Commission bill into law in Oyo State on Friday, with aims to empower the grid.
Recall that earlier this week, the state governor promised to adjust the electricity bill to benefit the people of Oyo State: “As promised earlier in the week, I signed the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission Bill into law today.“
Adding that the bill would ensure that the state “generates, transmits, and distributes electricity within the state.“
He reiterated the significant progress and development which the achieved feat would bring to the state and the whole people of Oyo State.

In a post shared on the governor’s X handle, Makinde stated that, in a remark made during the signing, “the amendments to the constitution will aid in advocating for fiscal federalism and accountable government.
“In years to come, as we work towards energy sufficiency, our people can hold state governments accountable on the issue of electricity supply.“
