Police in Lagos apprehended four individuals accused of orchestrating a fake kidnapping and demanding a ransom of five million Naira.

On Friday, Lagos Police Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced that detectives of the Lagos State Police Command apprehended the fake kidnapping suspects: Margret Itodo, Agnes Ogbeh, Esther Anyanwu, and Anthony Chinakwe.

Going by the statement released, Agnes Ogbeh, a resident of Akure, reportedly traveled to Lagos and was allegedly abducted on March 19.

Following her travel, Ogbeh’s family received a distressing video showing Agnes and another individual bound, gagged, and visibly distressed, with acclaimed kidnappers demanding for a hefty ransom.

Prompted by the complaint, police detectives initiated a thorough investigation, leading them to uncover the whereabouts of the fake kidnapping victims which included Miss Ogbeh, with the other individual in the video, living freely alongside the alleged kidnappers.

According to the report by SP Hundeyin, further inquiries revealed that Margret Itodo, a professional makeup artist, was hired to fabricate the appearance of a genuine kidnapping.

However, all four suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement in fake kidnapping incident and are awaiting arraignment pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Adegoke Fayoade, commended the diligent efforts of the detectives.

Similarly, he urged residents to remain vigilant, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
