The President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, announced that N15 billion has been pumped into the nationwide food intervention program of the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF).
This nationwide initiative, launched in Kano, seeks to distribute over one million 10kg bags of rice to vulnerable families across all 774 local government areas in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Marking the commencement of this ambitious project during the holy month of Ramadan, Dangote emphasized the importance of showing compassion and generosity in times of need. The food intervention initiative not only aims to tackle hunger but also to inspire a collective effort among all stakeholders to support the less fortunate in society.
“Our distribution of rice symbolizes our commitment to upholding the values of compassion and solidarity, which are at the core of our humanity,” Dangote remarked, underlining the foundation’s dedication to alleviating the economic hardships faced by many Nigerians.
The programme, set to run from March to early April, involves a comprehensive distribution strategy. Collaborating closely with state and local governments as well as community partners, the ADF aims to ensure the rice reaches the most vulnerable groups across the nation.
Dangote highlighted the importance of transcending state, tribal, gender, religious, political, or other divides to reach those in dire need effectively.
