The Ondo State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared former deputy of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Ajayi Agboola as winner of the party primary.

Agboola was the deputy to the then Ondo Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, in his first term in office, which lasted from 2016 to 2020. He later parted ways with the late Akeredolu.

With 264 votes, the former deputy governor defeated other candidates, including Hon. Kolade Akinjo, a former member of the House of Representatives, who received 157 votes in second place.

Chief Ebiseni Olusola, a former environment commissioner in Ondo, was also in the rear with 99 votes, while Engr. Adeolu Akinwumi came in third and fourth, respectively, with 64 votes, with two others.

The election was keenly contested on Thursday among the seven aspirants, and no fewer than 621 delegates from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state participated in the shadow election.
