Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called for unity among the elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure that the party is stable and respected at the grassroots.
This announcement came after the breakfast meeting held on Monday with the governor’s residents at the old Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos.
Mutfwang Spokesperson Gyang Bere said that the governor stressed on the pivotal role the elders play in guidance and counselling.
Adding that the party needs to uphold the party’s values and contribute to promoting peaceful coexistence, unity, tolerance, and cooperation within the party.
Speaking further, the state governor addressed the members present at the meeting to shun violence while he conceded to the forthcoming congresses, which aim to elect party officials.
He also noted during the meeting the need for “inclusivity and consensus-building.”

During the meeting, Mr Mutfwang looked ahead to state the Congress will begin in due time as he urged the elders to demonstrate leadership and provide good counsel for peace to prevail.
Raymond Dabo, the Chairman of the PDP Elders’ Forum, appreciated the governor’s leadership and stressed the elders’ commitment to supporting the party’s progress.
Attendees include the ex-governor, Jonah Jang; Yahaya Kwanda; former ministers; and other prominent party members.
