The Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zacchaeus Adango, has resigned his appointment.
In a letter addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Adangor cited personal decisions as reasons for his resignation.
The state has been engulfed in a political crisis following a face-off between the governor and his erstwhile godfather, the minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
On Wednesday, the Rivers State government demolished the House of Assembly complex.

The state government said the reason was to renovate the House of Assembly Complex based on consultants’ advice, which claimed that the building was no longer safe to use due to the fire incident that burnt it.
As the crisis deepened, 27 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House, who were said to be loyal to Martin Amaewhule, had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Despite the provocative step, Governor Fubara presented 2024 budget estimates to the Edison Ehie-led 5 members of the House of Assembly on Wednesday while the demolition was still in progress.
Upon receiving the budget, dubbed the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation, and Continuity,’ Edison faction declared the seats of the 27 defected members vacant.
The Assembly had also passed the budget into law.
