The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested 8 suspects in connection to the brutal ambush of its officers in Ughelli, Delta State.
The NPF’s Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on X, stated that 8 suspects have been arrested in connection to the brutal killing of its officers who were on diligent duty.
The NPF have deepened their investigations, and made significant progress into the tragic incident that occurred on 23rd February in Ughelli, Delta State where officers on a fact-finding mission were ambushed, and on 26th February, when other officers who were on a rescue mission were also ambushed, resulting in the death of six policemen, while six others are still missing in action.
Following intensive investigative efforts, the police apprehended eight (8) suspects in connection with the brutal ambush.
Five (5) suspects had been initially arrested shortly after the incident, and an additional three (3) suspects were later apprehended at different locations, following the statements and cooperation of the initially arrested suspects, bringing the total number of arrests to eight (8).
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
“The Nigeria Police Force are committed to ensuring that all those responsible for this reprehensible act, and many alike, are brought to justice swiftly and decisively.
“The killers of the officers and many others in this extant case have murdered peace, and none of them will go unpunished,” Adejobi said.
The Police also vowed that the suspects would soon have their day in court, with credible evidence, once investigations are concluded.

Through the statement made by the PRO, the police expressed how deeply saddened they are by the heinous act of violence against its officers who were diligently performing their duty to protect and serve the community.
They also extended their thoughts and prayers to the families of the fallen officers during this difficult time.
