In a conversation with Naomi Chima of Punch newspapers, Abosede, the mother of the late singer Mohbad, shared her raw emotions and untold truths surrounding her son’s life and untimely demise.
From dispelling rumors to navigating complex family dynamics and seeking justice, Abosede’s words painted a vivid picture of a mother’s unwavering love and determination.
Responding to the allegations that she left her former marriage when Mohbad was little because she was pregnant for another man, Abosede clarified, “All that happened about 10 years ago… Since then, they have been fighting with me, saying that I left my children. I never left my children for 10 years… He (Joseph) is lying that he caught me cheating on him… Many people have been calling me an adulterer because of the lies he told against me.”
According to revelation from her, what really caused the issues between the both of them was that her father had asked her not to marry Mohbad’s dad from the onset.
“It was after I gave birth to my third child, Adura, that my father and I spoke after a long time… Back then, I used to sneak to the house to see my mum because my father must not see me… I even worked as a housemaid just to take care of my children,” she revealed.
The mother further spoke on the conflicting information about the circumstances leading to her son’s death, providing a clearer picture of what actually happened.
“I actually did not know when my child (Mohbad) died… I believe that my son was not dead as of the time he was buried… Joseph is actually my problem. I believe that he buried my son before he died.”
She reminisced, “My child never turned his back on me… Even though I knew that I stood to benefit the most from his wealth, I always told him to take care of his father as well… I had a cordial relationship with my son… I used to buy things for him.
“By the grace of God. Justice for Mohbad is what I want… I have no doubt that God will avenge him (Mohbad).”

Recall that the Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari, recently provided an update regarding the autopsy of the late singer, Mohbad.
Speaking during a recent session of the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death, Somiari assured that the autopsy results would be unveiled within the next three to four weeks.
Mohbad’s tragic passing on September 12, 2023, came as a shock to the Nigerian music industry. With his burial swiftly taking place the next day, speculations began to surround the circumstances of his demise.
Aged just 27, the singer’s unexpected death prompted the Lagos State Government to initiate a thorough investigation, culminating in the ongoing coroner’s inquest at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.
During his testimony, Somiari shed light on the meticulous process involved in unraveling the mystery shrouding Mohbad’s death.
“We expect to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death,” Somiari stated.
