A horrific incident has shaken the Ile-Ife community after Lekan Ogundipe, an assistant priest at the Celestial Church of Christ in Omitoto, allegedly killed and burned the body of the church’s presiding priest, Evangelist Moris Fadehan, on the church altar.
According to reports, the attack occurred on Monday evening in Ile-Ife after Evangelist Fadehan had returned to the church for prayer.
Before burning the presiding priest, Ogundipe is accused of ambushing Fadehan with bell, knives, and nails, inflicting multiple stab wounds.
Local news outlet, GOLDENPAGE MAGAZINE, suggests that a prior physical assault on a church prophetess, popularly called “Mummy Ewa“, by Ogundipe may have been the catalyst for the incident. The church owner, Pa Olafare, stated that Evangelist Fadehan had then planned to dismiss Ogundipe due to the “unlawful acts,” which included the assault on the prophetess.
Pa Olafare stated that it was Ogundipe who informed him about finding Evangelist Fadehan’s lifeless body burning on the altar. Along with Ogundipe and his wife, the founder returned to the church, where they discovered the burnt body and bloodstained evidence.
Ogundipe reportedly attempted to flee when questioned about the bloodstains, but was apprehended and handed over to the police. The body of Evangelist Fadehan has then be transported to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Osun Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed Ogundipe’s arrest and stated that the investigation is ongoing. The body of Evangelist Fadehan will undergo an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about violence and safety within religious institutions. The case is currently under investigation by the Osun State Police Department.
