In a move towards the impending launch of the automated passport application process, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared open the training session for Passport Control Officers and Enrolment Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service yesterday via the Minister’s verified X handle.

Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence in the commitment and dedication exhibited by the officers, emphasizing that their efforts are instrumental in making the scheduled launch on Monday, January 8, 2024, possible.

According to him, he commented that the training program is a crucial step in ensuring that personnel are well-equipped to handle the complexities of the automated system.

While addressing newsmen, the minister said, “Today, I declared open the training on automated passport application for Passport Control Officers and Enrolment Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service.”
This was following the last public address that was made in the wake of the Minister’s announcement in December, revealing the Federal Government’s commitment to achieving a fully automated passport application system. At that time, Tunji-Ojo mentioned that the automated application system was “99% done,” ensuring a seamless process that includes uploading passport photos and supporting documents.
