Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has suspended caretaker chairmen of the 18 local government areas (LGAs) and 33 local council development areas (LCDAs) in the state.
Aiyedatiwa stated that the caretaker chairmen would remain suspended until a court of law determines the matter.
In a letter signed by Alonge Adewale of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the governor instructed the suspended caretaker chairmen to hand over all properties belonging to the LCDC.
The governor further warned the suspended LGA chairmen and development areas to desist from parading themselves in the office.

Justice Yemi Fasanmi, at an Akure High Court, issued an interim injunction from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), restraining late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from inaugurating non-democratically elected members for caretaker committees overseeing local councils and LCDAs.
The caretaker chairmen were later barred from operating as they had been sworn in before the court order was granted.
