In the spirit of festivity and exuberance, the Yoruba in Bordeaux came together on December 23, 2023, to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of their lot, which is formally identified as Yoruba Union Bordeaux, recognizing years of building an international community of united Yoruba people in Bordeaux, France.
The event which took place today at
YUB is a wing of the Union which is intentional about the universal protection of the Yoruba people.
With extended investment efforts in establishing healthcare, education, legal support, and development resources that are set at helping Yorubas abroad, the Union has been proactively involved in the lives of many Yoruba people in France, particularly in Bordeaux.
The celebration was observed to be both intendedly promoting and reigniting a sense of cultural unionism and integration among Yorubas around the world while also enforcing the security, progress, and development of its members. Suffice also to say that it intensifies the goal of the Yoruba Union across all corners of the globe, emphasizing that unity and development are the core of the Yoruba ethos.
Background of the Union
Yoruba Union Bordeaux, as the name implies, is an organisation created by the Yoruba people residing in Bordeaux France was created in 2021 with the goal of promoting Yoruba culture and heritage in France.
Since its initiation, the organisation has gained recognition from the French government and other associations across France.
The Event
The event was an open floor to different speeches made by invited guests of honour which included the past president of the Union.
While addressing the esteemed audience with words of encouragement, the former president of the Union spoke about how elated he was to have witnessed, in full participation, another beautiful anniversary of the prestigious Yoruba Union Bordeaux. He went on to commend the efforts of the current president who have done so much to make sure the event finally took place on the auspicious day of the Christmas celebration.
He furthered in his speech by saying, “I am happy because all Yoruba are coming together, and that the purpose of this Union is to make sure that all Yoruba that are coming to Obodo (overseas) will never suffer and will never lack. Although this (Bordeaux, France) is our second home, we will make it our home, and we have been seeing improvement in all the Yoruba that have been coming here. The changes have been coming into their lives.”
Evidently, the 3rd anniversary of the Yoruba Union Bordeaux event was filled with comets of glamour, glitz, joy as attendees were seen flying in the aura, dancing to the sonority of the invited singer’s voice and tunes.
There were the events of different games and contests, including the displays of beauty and acute intelligence of both the elderly ones and the children.
