Tragedy struck early this morning as fire ravaged the Divisional Police Office in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The inferno, which broke out around 5:45 a.m., consumed a significant portion of the police headquarters despite the swift response of the State Fire Service.
Mr. Hussaini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) today: “At about 5:45 a.m., the Divisional Police headquarters was engulfed by fire, and a major part of the building was burned down completely.”
He further assured the public that despite the extensive damage, the arms and ammunition stored within the office remain secure. “The area has been cordoned off to prevent intrusion by onlookers and miscreants,” Gumel added.

Following the incident, it was reported that the authorities have initiated immediate investigation and have been working diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding the cause of the incident.
“The Divisional Police Officer is currently sorting out some of the affected documents,” Gumel said.
