In a devastating turn of events, an explosion at Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan, has claimed two lives and left 77 individuals injured.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who visited the scene, confirmed the casualties and provided crucial information about the incident.
According to Governor Makinde, the explosion, heard in various parts of Ibadan, was caused by illegal miners occupying a house in Bodija. Preliminary investigations by security agencies uncovered that explosive devices stored by these illegal miners led to the tragic blast. The governor assured that a thorough inquiry is underway, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
Governor Makinde, expressing deep concern for the affected residents, directed the government to cover the medical bills of all victims. Temporary accommodation will also be provided for those whose homes were damaged in the explosion, with support pledged for rebuilding their lives.
The aftermath of the incident revealed extensive damage to numerous houses several kilometers away from the explosion site. Urging residents to remain calm and stay away from the immediate scene, Governor Makinde emphasized the ongoing search and rescue operations with the deployment of earth-moving equipment, ambulances, and security personnel.
