President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO ) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, (NSIPA) Halima Shehu from office.

Shehu, who doubled as National Coordinator and CEO of the agency, was appointed in the early period of October 2023 by President Tinubu and confirmed by the senate on October 18, 2023.
Reports by the Channels Television said the President approved Shehu’s suspension with immediate effect and ordered a replacement.

Halima Shehu functioned as the National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, where she used her banking and career skills to ensure that agency operations were converted from analogue to digital and then to seamless transactions of conditional cash transfer to the target audiences.
The former bank executive had public service experience at the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, from 2017 to 2022.
Shehu had 10 years of banking experience where she worked at the former Intercity Bank before proceeding to Unity and Access Banks.
She hailed from Kafin Dagi village, Katsina, Katsina State. She graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language, and later bagged a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the same institution.
