Tinubu Orders Payment of State House Electricity Bill

President Bola Tinubu ordered that payment of State House electricity bill be made to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Tuesday.

The order takes place with immediate effect as directed by the Nigerian President, paving way to the reconciliation of accounts between the State House Management and AEDC follows. The action was carried out due to the AEDC’s initial claim of a debt load of N923 million stated in paid advertisements in newspapers.

Adding to that, the State House’ outstanding bill is N342, 352, 217.46. It was disclosed through a letter presented by the management of AEDC to the State House Permanent Secretary, which is dated February 14, 2024.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that “having reconciled the position to the satisfaction of both parties, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has given assurance that the debt will be paid to AEDC before the end of this week.”

The Chief of Staff has also pleaded with other MDAs to follow in the footsteps of President Tinubu, as the reconciliation of their accounts with AEDC is ongoing, and vows to pay their electricity bill.
