President Bola Tinubu has rolled out a comprehensive set of educational sector reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes, skill development, and academic accountability across the country.
President Tinubu announced the educational overhaul in a press statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale on Friday.
With the acronym ‘DOTS’, the approved policies include Data Repository, Out-of-School Children Education, Teacher Training & Development, and Skill Development & Acquisition.
D- Data Repository
With the need for accurate data to inform planning, President Tinubu has sanctioned an extensive census of schools, teachers, and students nationwide.
President Tinubu also expects this initiative to guide information about educational infrastructure, teacher qualifications, student demographics, and enrollment patterns.
He also announced the establishment of a dedicated portal to facilitate real-time monitoring and dissemination of this data, empowering government entities to effectively tailor interventions and support mechanisms.
O- Out-of-school Children’s Education and Training
Also, President Tinubu stated that the Federal Ministry of Education and four of its agencies will ramp up the policy to educate and train the nation’s out-of-school children.
However, he stated the policy was already being implemented as over two million are beneficiaries. The aim is to provide quality learning opportunities to millions of Nigerians.

T- Teachers’ Development and Support
Similarly, the President stated that this program spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Education will support and train teachers with digital skills to use technology in the classroom.
This will ensure teachers and students are prepared for the digital age.
S- Skill Development and Acquisition for All Levels
President Tinubu has also approved the National Skills Framework, designed to equip Nigerian students with diverse skill sets essential for success in the 21st-century economy.
By addressing skill gaps and promoting a culture of lifelong learning, this framework aims to improve employment prospects and economic competitiveness.
With these reforms, the President aims to bridge the gap in learning and develop a more effective education system in line with the aspirations of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
