In a recent interview with Hip TV, former Big Brother Naija reality star, Seyi Awolowo, who was faced with a tough question of choosing between Wizkid and Davido, chose the former.
When the former housemate was pressed to make a choice between the two artists, Seyi initially balked, acknowledging the stature of both artists as “national treasures.”
“No, don’t do that to me. These are our national treasures. Don’t make me choose one. Please, don’t do that to me,” he said with a laugh.
However, after some contemplation, Seyi finally admitted, “Wow! Okay, I would say Wiz [Wizkid].”
In the same vein, when asked to choose between veteran comedians Alibaba and AY, Seyi Awolowo promptly sided with Alibaba. And when it came to music awards, he showed his allegiance to homegrown recognition, favoring the Headies over the prestigious Grammys, and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) over the Oscars.
Seyi also expressed his preference for Lagos over his hometown.

This is one of the public endorsements that Wizkid got from fellow celebrities in recent time.
The Fulham and Super Eagles’ midfielder, Alex Iwobi, had recently disclosed Wizkid as his favorite Nigerian artist.
The declaration came during the latest episode of ‘Would You Rather…,’ where Iwobi shared insights into his personal preferences.
Popular for his controversial role in the 2023 AFCON final, Iwobi’s revelation gave an insight into his off-the-pitch interests, particularly his passion for Nigerian music. “I prefer Nigerian music to English. Wizkid is my favorite Nigerian artist. I feel him more than Burna [Boy],” he stated.
Reflecting on his journey as a fan, Iwobi confessed, “I have always been a big fan of Wizkid.”
