The Acting Director General of the River State Bureau of Public Procurement (RSBOPP), Ine Briggs, said with all satisfaction towards the approved contract worth N225.1 billion for the Trans-Kalabari Road, the commission has issued a certificate of no objection for the project.
On Wednesday, Briggs announced the development during a meeting held at the Rivers State Government House, chaired by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in the presence of Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu and other members of the Executive Council.
The statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, noted that the contract was awarded to Lubrick Construction Company Limited.

“Having reviewed the submissions of the Ministry of Works, having examined all the supporting documents presented by the ministry, and having fulfilled all the necessary procurement procedures and guidelines as prescribed by the Rivers State Public Procurement Law 2008 as amended.
“I am satisfied that the value for money proposition, fitness for purpose, and value for money have been adhered to. Having been convinced that this project will stimulate economic activities socially and bring about development in these areas, the Bureau is satisfied that all the elements leading to this award are sufficient to issue a certificate of no objection.
“Therefore, in consideration of all the relevant documents submitted by the Ministry of Works pursuant to the construction of Trans-Kalabari Road and bridges, the Bureau has issued a certificate of no objection and that the contract be awarded to Lubrick Construction Company Limited,” Briggs stated.

According to Warisenibo Johnson, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, the project will be funded with savings from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and allocations from FAAC, and 30 percent of the fee has been paid to the contractor.
However, he underscored that the project exceeded the Port Harcourt ring road project due to the terrain of that area and will be completed within 32 months as they expect the contractor to move to the site for the commencement of the construction.
