2023 Labour Party Candidate of Delta State House of Assembly, Harrison Gwamnishu, confirmed that the Rivers State Police Command has returned the sum of N4.2 Million Naira extorted to the victim.
Gwamnishu said that the money that was allegedly transferred from the victim via USDT account to the Police Officers Wallet has been returned on Saturday.
According to his tweet on Saturday, he accused the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, and other senior officers of the Rivers State Police Command of being aware of this case and the refund.
“Let it be on record that the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, is aware of this kidnapping by men under his supervision,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained on a video, shared in Twitter handle, how the police officers attached to the Rivers State Police Command left Port Harcourt for Aba in Abia State to arrest the victim. He took him to Rivers State, then moved him to Bayelsa State, and arrived at Ughelli in Delta State.
He also added that “after the victim paid $3000 USDT, equivalent to N4.2 million Naira, they moved him back to Port Harcourt and dumped him.“
The Rivers State Police Command via X Handle also disclosed that police personnel have been identified and arrested, while an investigation is still ongoing to bring the perpetrators to book.
Rivers State Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, ANIPR, reiterated that further information will be made known to the public as soon as the investigation is concluded.
