Rivers Police Apprehends Suspect Involved in Killings, Recovers Arms

Rivers State Police Command, in alliance with the C4i Strike Force and Diobu Vigilante, has arrested suspect Samuel Nwokoma, who was involved in a murder that occurred within the Diobu axis of Port Harcourt.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed this on Tuesday in a statement that there was a recent cult-related clash that resulted to killings in the Diobu area of Mile One.

In the process of addressing the security issue in the community, on March 17, at around 7 a.m., with the help of Intel, the security men arrested one alleged killer, Mr. Nwokoma, a 25-year-old male and member of a dangerous cult group called Blood Star (BS), who is said to be involved in multiple cult-related killings within the community.

Furthermore, when interrogated, he confessed to killing two different individuals in a separate attack.

According to the statement, the suspect, while confessing, said that on March 14, he and his gang shot Ede Sunday, a 32-year-old male, at Nanka Street by Lomumba, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

Adding that to a different attack by the same suspects, on March 16, approximately 9:30 pm, he shot at George Johnson, a 28-year-old male, on his chest at Ojoto Street by Emenike, Diobu, Port Harcourt, but the victim could not make it after receiving medical attention at New Mile One Clinic, Diobu.

Mr. Nwokoma led the security force to their hideout which was located at the Diobu Waterside. Getting to the location, the other gang members, on sighting the policemen, fled, while others jumped into the river as they escaped.

Iringe-Koko noted that “intensive efforts are currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.”

While the police operatives were searching the environment, they recovered dangerous arms and ammunition, including charms that were used during the operation by the gangs.

The PPRO reiterated the “importance of the recovery of these dangerous weapons and explosives, as it not only neutralises an immediate threat to public safety but also highlights the commitment of the Rivers State Police Command in combating violent crimes within our communities.

“We assure the public that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the apprehension of all individuals involved in these criminal activities.”
