In response to the tragic explosion in Ibadan, President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident that claimed two lives and left around 80 individuals injured.

The President addressed the alarming situation, attributing the explosion to the activities of illegal miners.
President Tinubu called the behavior of these illegal miners “inexcusable and reckless” and emphasized the need to identify and punish those responsible for creating the conditions leading to the devastating blast.
He, immediately, extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Oyo State, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

In a directive, President Tinubu urged all relevant government agencies to swiftly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
He specifically instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with the Oyo State Government to provide immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, conveyed this message in a press release issued today, emphasizing the President’s commitment to addressing the aftermath of the explosion and offering support to the affected residents.
“Extensive Damage”
Preliminary investigations by security agencies uncovered that explosive devices stored by these illegal miners led to the tragic blast. The governor assured that a thorough inquiry is underway, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
The aftermath of the incident revealed extensive damage to numerous houses several kilometers away from the explosion site.
It had been reported that about 77 persons were fatally injured as at this early morning.
