The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Monday, reassured the nation about the government’s proactive stance on security challenges and provided updates on recent operations.
In the past few days Plateau State had been under attack Recall leading to Governor Caleb Mutfwang imposing 24 hours curfew in Mangu, one of the Local Government Area in the state.
In the ongoing efforts to tackle security threats, Minister Idris emphasised the government’s bold approach, actively confronting criminals such as bandits, kidnappers, and militants.
He said significant progress has been made, with numerous individuals from these groups apprehended in the past week, underscoring the government’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens.
“In the area of security, all threats are being boldly confronted. We are taking the fight to the criminals’ dens, with promising results. Within the last week, several bandits, kidnappers and militants have been neutralized or arrested.”
Expressing deep regret for the resurgent crisis in Plateau State, the minister assured the public that all individuals responsible for violence, not only in Plateau State but throughout the country, will be brought to justice.
“The government is dedicated to restoring peace in all affected communities. The resurgent crisis in Plateau State is indeed highly regrettable, and we assure that all perpetrators of violence there, and everywhere else in the country, are being brought to book.”

Commending the gallantry of security and intelligence agencies, Minister Idris acknowledged their tireless efforts to ensure citizens’ safety at home and on highways. He highlighted their relentless pursuit of criminals, leaving no room for illicit activities.
“We salute the gallantry of security and intelligence agencies who are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that we are safe in our homes and on the highways, and that criminals have no breathing space.
“The government’s unwavering commitment is evident in its pledge to continue these decisive actions, creating a secure environment for all citizens. The focus remains on justice and the restoration of peace amidst emerging challenges.
“Justice will be done, and peace will be restored in all affected communities,” Idris said.
