Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, has provided insights into the reasons for his transformation into a transgender individual.

The internet sensation, whose flamboyant persona has polarized opinions, shared his narrative in an exclusive interview with maverick singer, Charly Boy.

Bobrisky disclosed that his journey towards embracing a transgender identity commenced during his undergraduate days at the University of Lagos, where he pursued a degree in Accounting.

It was during this time that he delved into crossdressing as a marketing strategy while operating a business selling unisex clothing.

Reflecting on his initial foray into crossdressing, Bobrisky remarked, “Most times I try the female wears on myself and I love the outfits.” As he experimented further with female hairstyles and makeup, his clientele expanded, leading him to persist in his crossdressing endeavors.

Initially conceived as a marketing tactic, Bobrisky’s transformation gradually evolved into a personal expression of identity.

I wasn’t thinking I was going to do it for a very long time,” Bobrisky admitted. “Initially, it was just a marketing strategy, but people were complimenting me that I look better as a woman than a man. That’s how I ended up being Bobrisky.”

Despite his growing popularity, Bobrisky encountered resistance from his parents regarding his unconventional lifestyle. However, he shared that over time, they came to accept and support his decision to live authentically as himself.

The disclosure comes amidst ongoing discussions surrounding Bobrisky’s receipt of the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award at a recent movie premiere.

In response to the controversy surrounding the award, Bobrisky remains resolute, asserting, “I won hands down.” However, his triumph has not been without detractors, as evidenced by Portable’s condemnation of the accolade.

Bobrisky’s recent win of ‘Best Dressed Female’ sparked a swirl of controversy over the week, promoting a clarification by Eniola Ajao, at whose movie premiere the award was presented.

The Nollywood actress and filmmaker shed light on the controversial decision in an interview with Arise TV, revealing that the award was indeed part of a carefully crafted strategy to garner attention for the movie.

It was all jokes. We just want to have fun. We want people to talk about the movie,” Ajao explained.

Further elaborating on the rationale behind honoring Bobrisky, Ajao emphasized the desire to provoke discussion and intrigue surrounding ‘Ajakaju.’

My team and I decided that it needed to be in the faces of people. So we decided to give the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky since he has always been a very controversial person,” she stated.

However, the move didn’t come without its share of backlash. Ajao addressed the criticism, urging Nigerians not to direct their ire towards Femi Adebayo, who presented the award. “He just presented it, it wasn’t his idea, he was not part of the judges. Nigerians shouldn’t slam him, please,” Ajao appealed.

Ajao further tendered an apology, announcing that 2 more females will be announced winners, each receiving a sum of 1 million naira.
