Nigerian music sensation and record producer, Chisom Faith, popularly known as Rexxie, has been taken into custody, currently facing legal troubles in Uganda.
The news of his detention was broadcast through an Instagram post shared by the ‘KKP’ crooner himself on Monday morning. Rexxie divulged that he was apprehended by Ugandan Immigration authorities.
Nevertheless, in his social media update, the singer and producer refrained from disclosing the exact grounds for his arrest, which he vehemently labeled as “unfair.”
Expressing a plea for assistance, Rexxie implored his followers to rally behind him and advocate for his swift release, using the hashtag, “UgandaFreeRexxie.”
In his own words, Rexxie quipped, “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. Pls I need help.”

The apprehension of Rexxie draws unsettling parallels to previous incidents involving Nigerian musicians embroiled in legal disputes while abroad, especially in Uganda.
Notably, the highly-publicized arrest and subsequent detention of singers like Omah Lay and Tems in Uganda serve as a haunting precedent, wherein the duo faced judicial proceedings and incarceration following their participation in a concert deemed to have contravened COVID-19 social distancing protocols.
Not only were the artists detained, but also managers like Dungu Ivan, Prim Kasana, including Ms Tems’s manager, Muyiwa Awomiyi.
