Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, born on May 3, 1993, is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, known by his stage name Mr Macaroni. He is not just a versatile actor and content creator, but a prominent citizen activist using his platform to advocate for social justice.
Early Life and Education
Born in Ogudu, Lagos, to an upper-middle-class family with both Islamic and Christian influences, Debo grew up in Magodo, Lagos. He attended Tendercare International Nursery and Primary School and later Babcock University High School for his secondary education.
His academic journey faced challenges due to university accreditation issues, leading him to study law at Lead University, Ibadan, and later at Houdegbe North American University, Cotonou.
Debo’s vocal nature and commitment to justice resulted in him leaving Cotonou without completing his studies. Despite his parents’ pestering efforts to complete his education, he insistently went on pursuing his passion for acting.
However, he eventually earned a degree in Theatre Arts and Film Studies from Redeemer’s University Nigeria, Osun State, in 2018.
A dynamic figure in Nigeria’s entertainment and activism spheres, Mr Macaroni remains an influential force, using humor and advocacy to contribute to positive change in society.
Career and Artistic Ventures
Debo began his career as an actor in Nollywood before transitioning to creating comedy videos. Faced with a decline in movie roles, he embraced online comedy, marking the inception of his iconic character, a sugar daddy politician known as “Daddy Wa” and a strict lecturer named “Professor Hardlife.”
His comedy skits delve into real issues and events in Africa, touching on social and political matters like bad governance, civic responsibility, and human rights. In addition to satirizing societal issues, Debo often collaborates with Nollywood veterans and fellow skit makers, contributing to the vibrancy of Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.

EndSARS Activism
Beyond entertainment, Debo actively participated in the #EndSARS movement, using his platform to advocate against police brutality. His commitment to the cause led to his arrest during the #OccupyLekkiTollgate protest in February 2021. Debo’s involvement in the movement continued, as he became one of the key faces of #EndSARS, lending his voice and platform to raise awareness about the issues.
In October 2021, on the anniversary of the Lekki massacre, Debo, along with other #EndSARS figures, organized a drive-by event at the toll gate to remember the victims. He remains a staunch advocate for justice, rejecting invitations to participate in peace walks until the government implements the findings of the panel that investigated the Lekki massacre.

Debo’s contributions to content creation and comedy have earned him recognition, including winning the Comedy Act of the Year at the City People Music Awards in 2020 and the Content Creation category at The Future Awards Africa in 2020.
