After Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn intimated that they would not pursue the Nigerian striker this summer.

Manchester United gained a significant boost in their efforts to recruit £130M-rated Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old has contributed significantly to Napoli’s success in Serie A this season, scoring 23 goals in the league as Luciano Spalletti’s team won their first Scudetto in 33 years earlier this month.

Since losing Cristiano Ronaldo in November, United has been searching for a new striker and has been connected to Osimhen for months.

The Nigerian international won’t be leaving Napoli this summer, according to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, and the player has batted off rumors of a transfer.

However, the Red Devils think he will be available for about £130 million.

Osimhen is also a target for Chelsea, who may be aiming to outbid United with a partial trade involving Christian Pulisic, but according to Kahn, Bayern Munich is not a contender for Osimhen’s services.

He told SportBILD, “When it comes to such a fee, we have to ask the question: does the player give you a guarantee for this money?” That would undoubtedly involve a lot of risk.

If the German powerhouses have given up on signing Osimhen, it might be yet another indication of their waning influence in European football
