Nigerian singer, Portable, has disclosed that his journey into the music industry was preceded by a career in fashion designing.
The artist shared insights into his past in the inaugural episode of the Brooke Bailey Danfo Series, where he discussed his passion for both fashion and music.
During the episode, Portable, accompanied by Belgian DJ Brooke Bailey, offered viewers a glimpse into his hometown of Sango Ota, Ogun state. As they passed through various locales, including his fashion design studio, Portable reminisced about his days as a budding fashion designer.
“For me, fashion was more than just a hobby; it was my vocation,” Portable revealed during the episode. “Before diving into the world of music, I honed my skills as a fashion designer. Even now, I continue to pursue both passions simultaneously.”
Emphasizing his commitment to both crafts, Portable stated, “I am still a fashion designer. That is what I learnt, that was my profession before I ventured into music. Now I combine the both, but I am taking the fashion side of things slow and steady.”
Highlighting the interconnectedness of fashion and entertainment, Portable stressed the importance of style in the music industry. “Even entertainment is connected to fashion in some ways. So when you are doing music, you have to do fashion,” he remarked.

During a recent interview, the music sensation had revealed that he possesses an impressive collection of vehicles and properties, including multiple residential buildings among others.
According to the Zazoo superstar’s statement, almost 20 cars, featuring prestigious models such as a Range Rover and a G-Wagon, belong to him. Additionally, he disclosed ownership of 10 houses, some of which are fully constructed while others are currently undergoing development.
Notably, the artist mentioned his ongoing project of constructing a hotel in Ogun State, showcasing his diverse investments in real estate.
Expressing concern about the state of roads in Ogun State, Portable lamented the impact of poor road conditions on his vehicles, emphasizing the need for infrastructural improvement.
Despite his considerable wealth, Portable emphasized a commitment to authenticity, asserting that he leads a genuine life devoid of ostentatious displays of wealth.
“It’s the bad roads that spoil my cars. I have bought many cars, I bought a G-Wagon and a Range Rover, I bought plenty of cars. I bought like 20 cars, it’s the road,” Portable remarked, highlighting the challenges posed by inadequate road infrastructure.
