Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to outgoing local government chairmen, advising them to conduct themselves peacefully and not harm any well-meaning citizens.
This admonition follows an incident where attendees of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road project inauguration were attacked by miscreants.
In a statement signed by Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi on Thursday stated that the Governor emphasized that violence is unnecessary and that any such actions would not be forgiven, with perpetrators facing consequences.
Governor Fubara reiterated oii commitment to peace and lawful self-defense, urging the local government officials to remember their life after office and avoid actions driven by misplaced loyalty.

He expressed his dedication to the state’s welfare, highlighting his transparent and accountable governance.
The Governor’s remarks came during the flag-off ceremony of the 33.5km Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road project in Emohua Local Government Area.
He added that the project will be funded through savings from the state’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), 50% of the project’s N80.8 billion cost has already been paid to account for potential price fluctuations due to exchange rate uncertainties.
The road is expected to significantly boost commercial activities and improve connectivity between Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas.
