Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has met with the Governing Council of the three state-prestigiously owned institutes in Ondo State.
Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed his administration commitment to providing full assistance to the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH), and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), held in his office on Tuesday.
He reiterated the major and valuable contribution of these state-owned institutions to society, especially in terms of human capital development.
He also said that within his tenure, his administration will support and collaborate with the various institutions to promote excellence in education in the state.
The governor promised to address the various challenges facing the three institutions as soon as possible.
During the meeting, Prof. Ayodele Arowojolu, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of UNIMED, expressed his gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for releasing funds for the Faculty of Pharmacy of UNIMED and appealed for further support for ongoing projects.
Earlier, while extending his condolences to the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, he eulogised the passing governor for his leadership qualities.
Prof. Adesegun Fatusin, the Vice Chancellor of UNIMED, applauded the governor’s dedication to the tertiary institution and urged him to address critical issues.
Furthermore, Prof. Fatusin announced that the institution is fully set to produce her first batch of doctors in Nigeria at a forthcoming convocation ceremony that will be held in the school convocation arena.

However, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, expressed his solidarity with the governor and praised the governor’s swift efforts in enhancing the educational landscape of the state since assuming office.
Prof. Akinbo Adesomoju, Chairman of the Governing Council of OAUSTECH, urged the Governor to continue the late Akeredolu’s legacy in developing the institution and also cited the neglected structures, including the need for renovations into modern facilities.
