Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has clinched victory as the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, following his triumph in the party’s ward primary.
Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes in the primaries, defeating his closest rivals, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who gathered 15,343 votes, and Olusola Oke, who came in third with 14,865 votes.

“I can confirm that the direct mode of primary election adopted in the 2024 Ondo state governorship primary elections held in all 203 electoral wards in all the 18 LGAs in Ondo state,” Ododo said while announcing the winner.
Governor Aiyedatiwa secured victory in 16 of the 18 LGAs, with his only loss being in Ilaje LGA to Oke.
Although the primary began on Saturday, several contestants alleged that the elections did not take place anywhere.
Several aspirants protested on the streets, demanding the cancellation of the election, citing its lack of fairness and freedom.
