Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Dr. Michael Olumide Gbala as the Acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo.
Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, confirmed the appointment on Monday while emphasizing the government’s dedication to healthcare improvement.
The governor made other key appointments alongside Dr Gbala. They were:
- Akure Complex: Dr. Adesina Lawrence Akintan assumes the role of Acting Medical Director for the Akure Complex, which includes the State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
- Ondo Complex: Dr. Adeola Oladele Akintade has been appointed as the Acting Medical Director for the Ondo Complex, comprising the General Hospital, Ondo.
However, the governor stated that the appointments would take effect immediately, marking the commencement of a six-month probationary period.

Additionally, the governor said that he will select a substantive CMD, aligning with his administration’s goal to enhance UNIMEDTH’s capability to deliver premium healthcare services to Ondo State residents.
However, the governor extended his congratulations to the newly appointed officials as he was expressing confidence in their ability to serve the populace diligently.
