The Federal Government (FG) has declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this in a statement on Sunday.
The statement read in part: ‘The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, 9th and Wednesday, 10th April, 2024 as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr celebration.’
Furthermore, the minister congratulated Muslims for the completion of the Ramadan fasting and urged them to embody virtues such as kindness, love, and tolerance.
He emphasised, ‘Tunji-Ojo calls on Muslim Ummmah to imbibe and practise the virtues that entails kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).’

Furthermore, he encouraged Nigerians to uphold unity for the advancement of peace and harmony in the country.
Mr Tunji-Ojo wished the Muslims a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration and offered prayers for peace and blessings upon the nation.
