The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has hailed and emulated President Bola Tinubu, who is set to distribute grains to over 200,000 households in Nigeria.
The Deputy Senate president urged the state and local government chairman to continue the role laid by the Nigerian President in providing food commodities to those who are in need of them in the country.
According to the post shared on NTA X handle, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, obliged that the president has ordered the release of 102,000 metric tonnes of rice, maize, millet, and others to address the high cost of food in the country.
“In the coming days, he will distribute rice to 200,000 households as part of his contributions to address the challenge,” he stated.
Adding that the Federal Government on Thursday, via the Special Presidential Committee on Emergency Food Intervention, headed by the Chief of Staff, Rt. Femi Gbajabiamila, ordered the release of 102,000 metric tonnes of grains to Nigerians.

Complying with the directive of the President of Nigeria, the Deputy President of the Senate said that the new development would reduce the high cost of commodities in the country.
“Hailing President Tinubu for the directive, the Deputy President of the Senate said the move would go a long way in cushioning the effects of the rising cost of commodities in the country.
“At this trying period, we should all support the federal government to address the challenges our country is currently facing. As we all know, the rising cost of food is a global phenomenon, and our country is not unaffected by it.
“It is against this background that I implore states and local governments to distribute food items to those in need across the country to cushion the effects of the rise in the cost of food items,” the statement read.
