The Lagos State Police Command has restricted movement within water areas and land area of Surulere Federal Constituency I for the forth-coming bye-election.
Announcement came immediately after the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun issued a restriction order over the 26 state where bye-election is to be observed.
“This is to announce to the general public that during the bye-election scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, there will be restrictions on movement in the election area, Surulere Federal Constituency I only,” the announcement read.
Recall that the after President Bola Tinubu assigned Femi Gbajabiamila, immediate-past speaker of the house, as his chief of staff, the seat in the lower legislative chamber became vacant.
The election, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 3rd of Febuary, 2024, is designated for Surulere Federal Constituency I.

In the statement shared by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Command, on his X handle, Funsho Williams Avenue will be free for passage during the election period. Movement into and out of Feeder Road off Funsho Williams Avenue will not be accessed.
However, in the other areas of Lagos State, there is absolutely no restriction on movement.
